“Living a Life of Authentic Connection”

Don’t just talk, learn to Converse

Recently, I have had the good fortune to be invited to assist Boon Ling in one of her talks. I agreed to the invitation because the talk was about a subject that is very close to my heart—Communication, and Compassionate Communications (CC), at that.

How very apt, that the topics focused on recognizing our meanings when we interact with our close ones, friends or even strangers. Are we connecting from the space of authenticity, care and kindness? Or are we connecting from the ideas and meanings of who we perceived them to be, e.g. a child must be obedient, a husband must be loyal, a close friend must be supportive and understanding, a guru must always be knowing, a cashier at the supermarket must provide perfect smiling services, a security guard must ensure my house is safe. God forbid if all these expectations are not met! What a painful way to live our lives ensuring that people behave in the way we perceive them to be.

Thanks to Compassionate Communications, I now can recognize that the meanings I put in everything are the cause of my sufferings. Henceforth, I am able to authentically choose to connect with my close ones, friends or even strangers, in a more meaningful and harmonious way.

How have you been communicating lately :)?
